My name is Shu Hui and I will be graduating with a degree with genetics in the Spring of 2015.
This website is a project created for a Genetics 564, a course in genomic and proteomic analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I have always thought motivation and impulse control to be interesting traits, but this semester-long research on the dopamine receptor D2 (DRD2) has given me a newfound respect for people studying psychiatric genetics and the molecular mechanisms underlying cognition and behaviour. As discussed in my specific aims, there is a lot of complexity involved in the regulation of DRD2, and what I presented on this website is only an infinitesimally small fraction of what has been studied about dopamine receptors. I'd definitely encourage you to find out more about other components of dopamine signalling like the four other receptors subtypes, dopamine transporters and the dopamine molecule itself if you found my project somewhat intriguing. You are also encouraged to direct questions, feedback and miscellaneous remarks--civil or otherwise--to [email protected]. |
